Jan Koval

Jan Koval is a partner of Havel, Holásek & Partners. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions, private equity / venture capital, legal audit and legal due diligence investigations, labor law and employee benefits.

Jan Koval has represented numerous sellers and buyers in mergers, acquisitions and restructurings in the Czech Republic, primarily in the engineering industry, the food industry, IT/TMT, the consumer goods sector and services. During the past four years, Jan has advised on a large number of major M&A and restructuring transactions executed in the Czech Republic.

In the area of labor law and employee benefits, Jan Koval has been involved in a number of projects, primarily dealing with contractual arrangements between companies and their top managers, restructuring of human resources, and setting complex employee remuneration systems.

Before joining Havel, Holásek & Partners, Jan Koval worked for three years at the Prague offices of international law firms, including Dewey Ballantine.

Jan Koval has acted in the field of mergers and acquisitions as the lead counsel or in an instrumental role in a number of major transactions executed in the Czech Republic during the past years, including:

• the merger of the two largest distributors of automotive spare parts in the Czech Republic
• entry of a major fixed telephony operator to the Czech market
• sale of a major group of food companies in the Czech Republic
• restructuring one of the largest IT solutions providers in the Czech Republic
• acquisition of several cable TV companies in the Czech Republic
• global acquisition of a cell phone producer
• formation of the largest provider of corporate training in the Czech Republic
