Marek Vojáček

partner

Marek Vojáček is a partner of Havel, Holásek & Partners. He mainly advises Czech and Slovak investment groups on restructuring transactions and insolvency proceedings, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Marek specializes in particular in transactions involving insolvency or restructuring elements and transactions with portfolios of non-performing debt. Marek has managed comprehensive legal projects in connection with the bankruptcy of Union banka (the largest bankruptcy proceeding in the history of the Czech Republic).

Marek Vojáček has also advised various international financial groups on acquisitions of non-performing debt portfolios from specialized Czech governmental consolidation institutions and from non-governmental financial institutions. Marek has also represented clients in complex disputes, including disputes relating to mergers and acquisitions.
Projects typically managed by Marek Vojáček include legal advisory to major Czech, Slovak and international corporations and natural persons in connection with complex disputes or in situations involving insolvency aspects, and also advisory on bulk sale or collection of debt portfolios.

Before establishing Havel, Holásek & Partners in 2001, Marek Vojáček worked for several years at Linklaters.

Transactions

Marek Vojáček has acted as the lead counsel or has been instrumental in a number of major transactions executed in the Czech Republic during the past years, including:

  • the largest bankruptcy proceeding in the history of the Czech Republic
  • representing a major Czech bank as the petitioner and largest creditor in an insolvency proceeding against an insolvent real estate developer
  • representing a public corporation (municipality) in a dispute worth approximately CZK 1 billion and relating to privatization of flats
  • advising foreign funds and domestic investors on acquisitions of non-performing corporate debt portfolios and consumer debt portfolios worth tens of billions of Czech koruna
  • advising foreign institutions and investors on the collection of non-performing corporate debt portfolios and consumer debt portfolios worth tens of billions of Czech koruna
